I'm sorry I didn't make this clear before the wedding, but I'm not changing my name. I've been Stephanie Zuercher since I was born, and I'll be Stephanie Zuercher for the next seventy-four years. (Yes, I'm going to live to a hundred. No, I'm not going to change my name on my hundredth birthday, although it's tempting to change it to something like WOW I'M OLD Zuercher . . .)
If people refer to me as Mrs. Kimball, I shall gently correct them ("It's Ms. Zuercher") and then go on; I don't mean to be exceptionally rude about it. I assume that once we produce progeny (and, for those wondering about that, you've probably got five years to wait) they will be surnamed Kimball; I won't be insisting on hyphenation or anything. Zuercher-Kimball is too unwieldy, anyway.
I understand that a significant number of my dad's sisters got married so they could stop being at the end of the alphabet, but I kind of like it. Also, Ben has no desire to change his name to Zuercher, so why should I change mine to Kimball?
I'm pretty sure we can cash all the checks written to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kimball, though. :)
